credentials not required
Nothing truly relevant requires a credential for you to do it.
nothing that is relevant, truly relevant, requires a credential for you to do it.
credentialism is a way to minimize risk, at least the illusion of risk. but it is also a way to push responsibility for your actions onto others.
anyone pursuing or looking to pursue credentials, think again if you want to enter an environment which favors abstract risk minimization based on obedience.
i'm convinced people who have credentials high up in their ranking system don't trust their own judgment.
someone who hires based on credentials is basically purchasing insurance against a mis-hire. he will always be able to say to his boss: "oh, but he had xyz degree, xyz marks" so he is basically covering his ass.
credentials only guarantee yourself a place in a system where obedience is the highest order and risk minimization and thinking outside the lines are punished.
think twice before you go and learn something just to get credentials. think long and hard about what it is that you want for yourself, not in relation to others. most probably a credential won't be necessary to achieve that goal.
of course it's nice to say i have a masters, a phd or whatever credential you have to show off. but if you are doing it for the paper you get in the end, reconsider.
action, result, feedback, repeat is a more effective strategy than wasting time and money on a random credential, which is anyway rapidly losing its value.
